Arsenal’s Carlos Vela scored a hat-trick against Sheffield United in a 6-0 drubbing of the championship team in the third round of the League Cup. Arsene Wenger named a starting eleven with an average age of 19 years, going down into the Gunners history as the youngest-ever team.

The young Mexican International scored in the 44th, 50th and 87th minutes along with a brace from the “Great Dane” Nicklas Bendtner and 16 year old midfielder Jack Wilshere; the second youngest-ever to score for Arsenal.

This superb team performance was overshadowed by an even better individual performance by Vela, whose finishing on the night was nothing short of excellent. He scored his first after bendtner gave them a 2-0 lead- a minute before the break, he collected a chipped pass from Bendtner, flew down the right side and into the box, before bending the ball around the Keeper and inside the far post.

Vela’s second was arguably the goal of the match, he controlled a long pass from wing-back Kieran Gibbs on his chest, left the defender clueless and then had the audacity to produce the most delicate chip to beat Patty Kenny in goal… excellent!

His third, and Arsenal’s sixth came via a pass from 17 year old Welsh “wonderkid” Aaron Ramsey that found the little Mexican, who drilled it past Kenny, into the goal and into the hearts of many Gunners fans all over the world.
