Liverpool denied a home-win as John Arne Riise turns in a 94th minute own goal to give Chelsea a vital lifeline for the second-leg.

In a game which was apparently Liverpool dominated, the lead was taken late in the second half. After several mistakes from the Chelsea party Dirk Kuyt managed to put the ball-through Petr Cech’s legs.

Liverpool’s lead lasted a long-time, Torres and Gerrard came close to capitalising several times; only wonderful keeping from the Chelsea keeper could slow the persistent striking force of Liverpool.

The equaliser came late into extra time, an attempted clearance from Liverpool defender Riise had him heading the ball into the back of his own net, giving Chelsea a highly important away-goal for the second-leg at Stamford Bridge, a ground which has seen them undisputed for a record amount of games.
