A late goal from Deivid earned Fenerbahce a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday, his thundering shot making up for an earlier own goal in their Champions League quarter-final first leg match.

Chelsea took the lead with a slice of luck in the 13th minute when the Brazilian striker deflected the ball into his own net off Florent Malouda’s cross from the left.

Substitute Colin Kazim-Richards equalised for the home side in the 65th minute when he collected a pass from Mehmet Aurelio and fired a shot beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini.

Deivid struck Fenerbahce’s winner in the 81st minute with a powerful long-distance drive.
