Preview : AS Roma - Manchester United

One word comes into mind for the Italians and that is : Revenge . Last year in this same period, Man United celebrated an emphatic 7-1 victory against Roma at Old Trafford. But things have changed since last year and now the teams are more balanced. Roma are title contenders in Italy, being only 4 points behind leaders Inter. Man United are also in the running for the Premier League Title, topping the tables with 5 points ahead of Chelsea. Roma will have to do without their star, Francesco Totti who is out due to a thigh injury suffered on Saturday. Vucinic, who already scored 4 goals in this year’s Champions League, will take Totti’s place. Paul Scholes will return for Man United and he could start in his 99th Uefa Champions League match. In an even more recent encounter Man United won against Roma in the group Stages, 1-0 at home after the first game, at the Olimpico ended in a 1-1 draw. Alex Ferguson is keen on bringing the trophy in England this year and he is hoping that Rooney and Ronaldo will deliver. Luciano Spaletti is certain that AS Roma have matured and is hoping for a big match from his players. After beating Real Madrid, it is possible to hope that Man United can be also beaten. This is without a doubt the most exciting match of the day and I think that even though the final result is important, the faith of these teams will be decided in the second round at Old Trafford.
Possible first 11 :
Roma: Toni, Cassetti, Mexes, Panucci, Tonetto - D.Rossi, Pizarro, Taddei, Aquilani, Mancini - Vucinic.
Manchester United: V.Der Sar, Evra, Vidic, R.Ferdinand, Brown - Anderson, Scholes, C.Ronaldo, Giggs - Rooney, Tevez.
