Ancelotti: Milan in difficulty

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted the Rossoneri may struggle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Milan are pushing for the fourth spot in Italy but lost at The San Siro for the fourth time this season, against Atalanta.

The Rossoneri lie sixth in Serie A, four points behind fourth-placed Fiorentina, and the Champions League holders might not qualify for Europe’s biggest competition.

Ancelotti is disappointed by his team’s form and says he is worried by the situation.

“Not playing the Champions League would not suit us, including the players who won many titles,” he said.

“We have to bounce back as quickly as we can, starting with the game with Cagliari next Saturday.”

“We made the usual mistakes at home and did not show enough application. Our midfielders are not brilliant and Emerson’s lack of presence did not help us. We are in a moment of obvious difficulty, we are worried, we have to learn to defend better also when we play at home, we give away too many chances on the counterattack and we are too stretched out on the pitch.”

“We always manage to do something up front, now we must be more concentrated in the defensive phase.”
