Celtic’s Scottish Premier League match at Motherwell was postponed for the third time Saturday because of a waterlogged field.

The field at Fir Park Stadium, which is also being used by Gretna this season, failed an inspection early Saturday. Celtic said it felt “severe disappointment” that the game was postponed again.

The game was originally scheduled for December, but was postponed because of the death of Motherwell captain Phil O’Donnell. It was then set to be played on Jan. 30, but was called off an hour before the scheduled start because of the poor state of the field.

Celtic is also scheduled to play Gretna at the same venue next Saturday.

“This is extremely disappointing news and once again, has caused massive inconvenience for those supporters who travel long distances to matches,” Celtic said. “There is clearly a fundamental issue with this pitch and we would have obvious concerns about future matches taking place at Fir Park.”

Celtic is second in the league with 65 points, three behind Rangers.
