Capello: Roma can beat Manchester United

Fabio Capello believes Roma can “do very well” in their Champions League clash with Manchester United.

The England manager spent several years at the Olimpico and took them to the Scudetto in 2001 and has faith in their chances despite last season’s 8-3 aggregate defeat.

“I maintain that Roma have picked, among the four English clubs still in the competition, the team that will most allow them to play their style of football,” he told RAI Sport.

“The heavy defeat they suffered last year at Old Trafford helped Roma in this Champions League campaign to face opponents with greater concentration. I am sure it will be a different Roma and I believe that, playing in a more orderly style, they can do very well.”

However, old rival Arrigo Sacchi disagrees with this analysis and is not celebrating the quarter-final draw.

“Roma picked the strongest team in the draw, but after last season’s defeat having to face the Red Devils again could provide the right motivation to get revenge,” said the former Italy and Milan boss.
