Gerrard: The draw that no one wants

Steven Gerrard believes ‘no-one’ will want to be drawn against Liverpool in Friday’s Champions League quarter-final draw.

After winning the trophy and reaching the final in two of the last three seasons, Liverpool’s recent record in Europe’s top club competition is outstanding and they made the quarter-finals again on Tuesday evening.
A 1-0 win over Inter Milan at the San Siro lead to a 3-0 aggregate success and Rafa Benitez and his side became the fourth English club, along with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, to make the next round.
Looking ahead to Friday’s draw in Nyon, which will also include Barcelona, Schalke, Fenerbahce and Roma, Gerrard said: “In the league we are a bit inconsistent but we’re a real force in Europe and no-one will want to face us.
“We deserve to go through because we have come to a top side and beaten them. We knew they would want to get control of the game and it was up to all of us to help out. We’ve done that and then with Fernando we’ve got someone who only needs one chance to score.”
