Joint Liverpool owner, Tom Hicks, has ended talks with Dubai International Capital over a bid that would allow them to make a club takeover.

After much prolonged talks with Tom Hicks the ‘Dubai International Capital’ (DIC) have announced that Tom Hicks has terminated the prospect of further negotiations over a possible club-takeover, they announced earlier today. Hicks, multi-millionaire Texan co-owner, also mentioned this in a word on the official Liverpool website.

It is understood that the DIC were holding talks with Tom Hicks over a 49% stake in Liverpool FC, leaving Tom Hicks with a 1% stake that would allow him to keep a minority, but powerful, control over the club. The rest of the ownership being left with George Gillete. This would mean that Liverpool FC would be bearing a three-way ownership.

Hicks, who made the joint club-takeover for £218.9m, claims that that the bid is not in the clubs best interest, and the DIC have accepted this. However, the club’s future remains in doubt, due to an inconsistent season, and a quote left by Hicks: “I and my colleagues will continue to explore a number of other options with regard to the ownership of the club.” .
