Merseysides enjoy double awards

The Barclays Manager and Player of the Month awards have been split between Everton and Liverpool to make it a Merseyside double for February.

Moyes’s Toffees won all of their league games during the month and this consistent form has landed him the trophy for the first time for over two years.
The third-longest reigning boss in The Premier League saw his team’s excellent run ended by Fiorentina as the Italians ran out 2-0 winners in the Uefa Cup on Thursday night.
However, Everton have a chance to get back to focusing on finishing in the top four domestically when they travel to Sunderland on Sunday.
Liverpool hot-shot Fernando Torres has scooped the Player of the Month award, even though his hat-trick against West Ham came outside of February.
The treble against Middlesbrough and strike in the 3-0 win over Sunderland was enough to convince the judges to make the Spain star the first Reds player, other than Steven Gerrard, to scoop the prize since Danny Murphy back in 2001.
‘El Nino’ picks up the award for the first time in his career.
