Kallstrom bemoan Lyon’s luck

Midfielder Kim Kallstrom was left bemoaning his side’s luck, after watching Lyon crash out of the Champions League to Manchester United at the last 16 stage, 2-1 on aggregate.

The English champions failed to sparkle in the 180 minutes against Alain Perrin’s men, needing a late Carlos Tevez goal to give them a goal in the Stade Gerland, and labouring to a 1-0 win in the second leg at Old Trafford.
Kallstrom accepted that United deserved the victory over the two legs.
However, the Swedish international was hugely disappointed that Lyon were unable to cancel out Cristiano Ronaldo’s 41st minute opener, when substitute Kader Keita hit the post in the 74th minute.
“We played a great team, but they had a bit of luck in winning the ball on 60 metres [in the build-up to Ronaldo’s goal]. Today, we hit the post, and that is as close as you can get without scoring,” he told reporters after the game. However, the 25-year-old acknowledged that Tevez’s goal in Lyon was the crucial factor in the tie. The first game was hugely disappointing to concede that goal [to Tevez] at the end. But we came here with the hope of doing something, and except for the first thirty minutes, I thought that we played well, but they are a good team, and probably deserved to go through.”
