Keane: Relegation decided on final day

Sunderland boss Roy Keane believes they won’t know if they’re going to be in the Premiership next season until the final game of this term.

“I’m pretty sure it’s going to go down to the last game of the season,” said Keane. “We know we’ve great commitment and a lot of qualities in our team, and we are in there fighting. Of course we would like to be further up the table, but then I’m sure Steve Coppell, Kevin Keegan and other managers are saying the same thing. Right now it all comes down to the mental side. A lot of it is what goes on in the head, about staying strong and believing.”
“At this stage of the season you can train all you want, sometimes twice a day, but it’s whether the players are mentally prepared for a game that will make a difference.”
