These sides last played at the Artemio Franchi in Florence on October 7 of last year. And it wasn’t the best match for Juve. The Bianconeri lost the goal in the final seconds of the game after former Juventus Adrian Mutu’s strike thru a handball in their penalty box.

Juventus

After a few last poor games and the tie with Torino we can expect more determination from Claudio Ranieri’s lads to get the three points. At Stadio Olimpico in Turino, Juve had the chance to go to within a point of Roma in second, but they could not find a breakthrough. Matteo Sereni played a great game between Torino’s posts and he won the individual battle against Alessandro Del Piero, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Raffaele Palladino.

Now, Juventus must focus on keeping their third place in Serie A, being 4 points behind Roma and 4 points ahead of Fiorentina. The Bianconeri were understandably knocked from their stride by terrible Paulo Dondarini mistakes in the game against Reggina at Saturday, where they lost important three points against one of the worst sides in the league. The Vecchia Signora didn’t get at least 2 clear penalties and finally their lost the game after a late goal scored from 11 metres by Nicola Amoruso.

Fiorentina have played terrific football so far and they are very close to qualify for Champions League next season. After beating Livorno last week, they left Milan behind. The draw against Catania cost the Rossoneri the 4th place in Serie A.

It should be a tough game for both sides. Juventus will be without Cristiano Zanetti, Pavel Nedved and Giorgio Chiellini, who are all out through suspension. Jorge Andrade is still out with injury, but there is a possibility that David Trezeguet will be back after recovering from flu. Fiorentina lost their best player Adrian Mutu, who is in the treatment room and we would see the next former Juventus striker Christian Vieri up front. Frano Semioli is out with the injury too.

The Bianconeri have enough quality to win the game, but Fiorentina is still looking very strong without Adrian Mutu. Riccardo Montolivo could be the shining star of Viola this game as he is one of the best midfielders in Italy. He can provide the killer pass or the fatal finish, but he’s always dangerous for every team. But he will face Alessandro Del Piero, who is in a great form and who scored one of the most beautiful goals in February. His cracker against Roma from a free kick was the ideal goal in a match against the big guns of Serie A.
