Match Report: United reduce Arsenal lead at the top

Comfortable win for the Red Devils at Craven Cottage.

Manchester United keep the pressure on Arsenal who luckily drew against Aston Villa after a late goal scored by Nicolas Bendtner. The difference between these two sides has been reduced to a point.
Owen Hargreaves’s first goal for Manchester United helped the English Premier League champions to a 3-0 victory over Fulham in London on Saturday. The 27-year-old English midfielder opened scoring on the 15th minute after a precisely taken freekick.
The Cottagers had a bad day, especially their defenders, who looked very poor at the back. Before the break, Park Ji-Sung slammed from close range with the header after a great ball from Paul Scholes, who made the run down the right and delivered a great cross.
In the Second half, Fulham pressed their rivals a bit more, dominating for a while, but couldn’t do much to score. Sir Alex Ferguson decided to take off Carlos Tevez and Louis Saha in the 67th minute and replaced them by Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Simon Davies’ own goal 18 minutes before the final whistle had sealed the game. Fulham had good moments and Roy Hodgson’s lads caused some problems for the league champions. Danny Murphy was the best player on the pitch for the Cottagers with two good shots on the target. However, Edwin van der Sar proved he’s still one of the best goalkeepers, defending his team with a couple of great saves. United finally got the three points after a good performance. The biggest impact on the win has Park, who was at his best when teaming with Paul Scholes. Both midfielders were a joy to watch for the spectators.
Next week, the Red Devils will face Derby County, but before that game, they play the return leg of the knockout Champions League stage with Lyon at Old Trafford. Fulham have a difficult match against Everton next Sunday.
