FA calls Premier League’s 39th game plan ‘Unsustainable’

England’s Football Association says the Premier League’s plan to play regular-season games outside of Britain is unsustainable.
FA chairman David Triesman says the organization can’t agree with the current plan. He says it would be too disruptive and affect relations with international bodies.
However, while Triesman says the FA would be open to new variations of the proposal, he wants any alternatives to be made sooner rather than later.
The Premier League wants each of the 20 clubs to play a regular season game overseas starting in 2011.
Triesman says he doesn’t want the issue to overshadow England’s bid for the 2018 World Cup.
Triesman spoke Thursday after an FA board meeting.
